It has been ages since I uploaded my first post, so here's another. I know you missed me, don't deny it.
Balancing between school and homework and exams is hectic as it is, and trying to maintain my social life (or lack thereof) intact just adds more to the fun. So I decided to take a break and stop working on my book manuscript for a while and really focus on what matters. Like this, for instance.
The finding-the-perfect-story-then-translating-it thingy:
That "phase" took us -by 'us' I mean my group- the longest period of time. Thankfully, Chayma was our Guardian Angel or Knight In Shining Aluminium Foil, whatever you would like to call it, and she lent us an mp3 story.
Mrs. Hayfa edited the raw file and narrowed it down to a three-minute file (thank u), which made it easier to translate it. That took us only an hour, so no biggie.
The demo lesson:
I had to prepare some weird goggles with paper, which was moderately fun. Then came the real deal.
The lesson went pretty smoothly. For everybody except me.
The teacher made us scan several mini QR Codes glued to the walls of the library in order for us to find our groups. I had to scour the whole spacious room to find mine. I was the last man standing, which was not heroic at all, but utterly awkward.
The only good things were the videos. One had Emma Watson so I was like: Where's Lord Voldemort? My wand is ready!
The questions were easy, I answered most of them, which felt nerve-wracking seeing as when I spoke, everyone shut up so it was deadly silent.
Nonetheless, it was good. Two teachers from other high schools came up to me later and congratulated me personally. Yay!
The "Talk" with Shelly:
We had an e-lecture just the day after, with a Hispanic-American lecturer, Shelly Sanchez-Terell from Texas. We woke the woman at 3 a.m., but she didn't sound groggy at all, which meant she was expecting us.
What she said was quite informative and insightful, I went back and posted some questions on the e-Twinning forum and did some research on Vladimir Propp's The Morphology of The Folktale.
All in all, the only good outcome from this project up to this date is this "talk".
The video:
This is when my video editing skills were put to the test, right then and there, I swear that my computer was laughing his motherboard at me like: HA! NOOB!
I made a first video, painful as hell. And when I exported it, it wasn't an mp4 file, but I emailed it anyway in hopes that she wouldn't notice.
Wrong.
I had to make another video, in like one or two days. So what have I done? I made it in a week.
The project's not over yet, I'll keep posting. But it is a fun experience! Bye!
